HELENA, Mont. -- Former Carroll College All-American
Match Burnham has signed a contract to play professional basketball in the United Kingdom.
Burnham agreed to terms with the Reading Rockets -- located in Reading, Berkshire -- a Division 1 team of the National Basketball League in England. It's considered the second-highest league in the UK behind the British Basketball League.
"I'm really grateful for the opportunity to continue to play basketball and see the world," Burnham said. "No better time than while I'm young and still able to hoop."
A 6-foot-8 forward from Spangle, Washington, Burnham goes pro after becoming a first-team All-American with the Fighting Saints. He guided the Saints to a runner-up finish in the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship this past season. The talented scorer finished his career tied for No. 6 on the all-time scoring list, recording 1,834 points. He was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Year during the 2018-19 season. Burnham helped the Saints to 109 wins in his four-year career, including a 9-4 record at the NAIA National Tournament.
He and teammate
Alejandro Santos Piqueras, both members of the 2018-19 senior class, have become professional basketball players.
