HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College golf programs were recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America as Outstanding Team Academic Award Winners, the organization announced on Wednesday. 

According to the GCAA, a total of 193 schools across the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA submitted team GPAs of 3.0 or above. Carroll was just one of eight NAIA programs to be recognized. 

"It's always special to have your student-athletes recognized for all the hard work they do in and out of the classroom," Saints coach Bennent MacIntyre said. "Academics is the main reason they are here and these students take on extra expectations and commitments when they join our athletic department.  Our guys team was ranked nationally for their athletic ability this past fall and this is a great way to wrap up the academic year by being recognized for all the hard work spent on their studies."
