Carroll men's hoops signs Dennis Flowers III of California

HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College men's basketball 2019 recruiting class added another marquee signee, inking Dennis Flowers III of La Canada, California.

"I choose Carroll College because I think it can meet my every need and expectation that I have for college," Flowers said. "I want to get a great education, become a great man as well as a great basketball player. Carroll is the heart of Helena and the genuine feeling of family that I get from the community is very inviting. I'm excited for my future."

A 6-foot-2 combo guard, Flowers III comes to Carroll after a standout career at St. Francis High. He helped the Golden Knights win 24 games and advance to the Division 3AA quarterfinals in the highly competitive California basketball scene. The versatile, athletic guard averaged 17.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists his senior season.

"Dennis is a tenacious defender that can help us get some easy offense with his ability to create steals," Saints coach Kurt Paulson said. "His length will create issues for opposing guards. Offensively he can work off ball screens, get to the paint to score and dish."

Flowers III joins a deep recruiting class for the Saints that could make an immediate impact as Carroll looks to continue its run of success at the national tournament. The Saints lost a wealth of perimeter scoring with the graduation of All-Americans Match Burnham, Matt Wyman, and Ife Kalejaiye and injured senior starter Alejandro Santos Piqueras.

"This get is huge for us because our shooters just got plenty of open looks in the future by adding Dennis," Paulson said. "He will be a fan favorite as he will make spectacular plays with the ball and on defense. He is a tremendous shooter from the three-point line line too."

He plans to study health sciences at Carroll after becoming an honor-roll regular during his time in high school.
