HELENA, Mont. -- Day One of the Trudnowski Open wrapped up in the early afternoon Thursday at Vigilante Stadium with the Carroll College track and field team setting some solid multi-events scores.

"They all did a great job on Day One," Saints coach Harry Clark said. "All the kids competed well. I think all of those are PRs on day one for all those guys."

Sophomore Josh Malone, senior Nolan Hofstee, junior Ky Burch and sophomore Jake Smith represented Carroll College in the decathlon. Rocky Mountain College was the only other school to have an entrant with Nicolas Moore.

Malone led the decathlon field with a first-day total of 3,710 points.

"Josh is on track to be Top 3 in the country," Clark said.

In the heptathlon, Carroll held the lone two entrants in junior Ember Drivdahl and freshman Megan Pendergast. Drivdahl led the event with a total of 2,344 points, while Pendergast put up 1,990 on the first day.

The multis conclude Friday morning. The rest of the Trudnowski Open begins at 1 p.m.
