HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College softball team (RV) fell twice to No.16 Corban on Saturday in Hillsboro, Oregon.
The first game was a conference tilt, while the second was nonconference.
Corban (10-4, 3-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference) completed a four-game sweep of the Saints (2-5, 0-3).
In the first game on Saturday, Carroll's bats never got going. The Saints had three hits, highlighted by
Ashley Davis' home run in the third inning. However, Corban had already jumped out to a three-run lead by that point.
The Warriors added three more runs in the third inning and two more insurance runs in the sixth.
Corban out-hit Carroll 12-3 in the first game.
Carroll battled late in the second game after Corban scattered two runs in the second and fourth inning.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the seventh, the Saints scored when
Megan McCormick reached on a fielder's choice and received the RBI. It brought
Jessica Nimmo across the plate and gave the Saints life late.
Brooke Brewer followed that up with a single to load the bases with two outs.
But, that would be the final bit of offense for the Saints, as an
Anna ApRoberts ground out ended the game.
Jessica Nimmo went 2-for-3 in the second game to lead the Saints' offense.
The Saints play a doubleheader Sunday against Concordia in Portland, Oregon.
