HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College softball team hits the road for a four-game series in Kirkland, Washington, this weekend as the Fighting Saints matchup against the Northwest Eagles.
Northwest (1-11, 0-6 Cascade Collegiate Conference) won its first game of the season, but has since dropped 11 consecutive contests.
The Saints (6-11, 0-6) enter the weekend series having won their last outing. The Saints took the final game in a four-game series against No. 3 Southern Oregon, defeating the Raiders 6-5.
Amber Brewer leads sluggers for Carroll, hitting .472. The freshman leads the team in slugging percentage at .694.
Ashley Davis gave the Saints their offensive play of the season (so far) last week. Davis smacked a grand slam against SOU and is hitting .233 and has two home runs this season.
Tess Eaton (2-4, 2.49 ERA) and Ali Williams (4-3, 4.34 ERA) are the Saints top two pitchers this season.
Carroll went 4-0 against Northwest a season ago, winning by an average margin of 2.8 runs per game.
While the Saints near the 20-game mark on their schedule, they have yet to play a home contest. Carroll typically front loads their schedule with away games to play around cold weather in Montana, though last weekend's series against SOU was scheduled to play be played in Helena. The Saints and Raiders moved that game to a neutral site in Caldwell, Idaho.
Carroll plays Friday at 6 and 8 p.m. and then Saturday at 12 and 2 p.m.
