Carroll softball wins final game in series against No. 3 SOU

HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Fighting Saints softball team claimed the final game in a four-game series against No. 3 Southern Oregon on Sunday in Caldwell, Idaho.

The Saints (6-11, 0-6) took the final non-conference game 6-5. Southern Oregon (17-4) swept the three Cascade Collegiate Conference games prior.

In the final game, SOU jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Saints rallied in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Ashley Davis, who went 1-for-2 in the final game, hit a grand slam to instantly push the Saints ahead, 4-3.

The Saints padded their lead in the fifth when Katie Huisman knocked a single through the right side, scoring two more.

Holding a 6-3 lead entering the seventh, Carroll held on as SOU added two more runs but could not complete the rally.

Anna ApRoberts went 2-for-3 in the final game.

Ali Williams got the win on the mound for Carroll, pitching four innings while allowing seven hits and striking out one.

Tess Eaton came in and received the save.

The day started with a 12-0 victory by the Raiders.
