Carroll volleyball signs Katie Rhodes

HELENA, Mont. -- Carroll College volleyball signed Katie Rhodes, a middle hitter out of Mt. Spokane in Spokane, Washington, Fighting Saints coach Moe Boyle announced.

"She's a presence at the net," Boyle said. "She's had a great high school career and ended it on a high note. Quality athlete coming to us in track and volleyball. Quality competitor, quality student-athlete. I think she choose Carroll because of our high expectations academically as well as athletically."

Rhodes is a 6-2 middle hitter that set records at Mt. Spokane for most blocks in a season and most blocks in a career. Her volleyball team won the 3A Greater Spokane League and the Washington 3A District 8 championship in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She helped Mt. Spokane place 2nd in State 3A in 2016, third in 2017 and win the state championship in 2018.

Rhodes was named a 2018 NECA/IBEW Greater Spokane League Scholar Athlete.

"I choose Carroll mainly because of their outstanding athletic and education program," Rhodes said. "I mainly wanted a school that was in Montana and was close to my brother.

Rhodes will be a force for the Saints in the classroom, too. After nine Saints were named academic all-conference last season, Rhodes' high school academics should only add on to that. Rhodes had a 3.45 cumulative GPA in high school and plans to study education.

She will also high jump for the track and field team.
