HELENA, Mont. -- The Frontier Conference playoffs start in the friendly confines of the PE Center as the No. 2-seeded Carroll College Fighting Saints host No. 7-seed Montana Tech on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Saints own a 3-0 edge over the Orediggers this season, winning by an average margin of 10.7 points. The Saints concluded their final weekend of games by going down to Butte last Thursday to secure the regular-season sweep.
In that game, junior wing
Danielle Wagner set a career-high in scoring with 28 points and senior forward
Hannah Dean joined her in the 20-point club with 21 of her own. The pair each added nine rebounds, too.
Carroll's defense held Tech to 28 percent shooting from the field in the win.
The Saints will be looking for another strong defensive effort again on Tuesday. Entering the game, the Saints have held four of their past five opponents to under 50 points scoring.
Carroll will be led into the postseason by
Hannah Dean, who on Monday was named the Frontier Conference's Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. Dean is leading the team in points (15.2), rebounds (7.28), assists (2.8), steals (2) and blocks (1) per game.
The Orediggers will look for production from Mesa Williams, who leads the team in scoring at 13.4 per game.
Carroll is 4-1 in home postseason games dating back to the 2014-15 season.
