HELENA, Mont. -- Carroll College freshman forward
Jovan Sljivancanin helped the No. 7 Fighting Saints to a pair of wins this past weekend and earned the Frontier Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award.
It's the first time in his career the guard from Belgrade, Serbia, has earned the award. He's the fourth men's basketball player to earn the award this season.
Sljivancanin pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds and scored 19 points against No. 22 Providence on Saturday. His 18 rebounds were the most by a Saints player since Andy Garland pulled down 19 during the 2009-10 season. Over the course of the two wins, Sljivancanin averaged 13 points, 13.5 rebounds and three assists.
The Saints (23-5, 12-4 Frontier Conference) are the No. 1 team in the Frontier and with a win on Thursday night will seal a third consecutive regular season championship.
Carroll plays in Butte on Thursday and concludes the regular season against Rocky Mountain College on Saturday in the PE Center.
