HELENA, Mont. -- Two Fighting Saints were named to the NAIA Regional Awards for the 2019 season.

Saints sophomore outside hitter Lexi Mikkelsen, was named on the 2019 Northwest Region team. Also, Helena native, Taelyr Krantz, was given Honorable Mention for the Regional Awards.

Mikkelsen, as a starter, led the Saints in kills with 296 on the season. She also had the highest kills per set at 2.74 and the fourth highest hitting percentage at .215%. "I feel so grateful to have received this award" said Mikkelsen, "but ultimately, I'm just grateful for a team who works hard day in and day out to set each other up for success".

Krantz, also a starter for the Saints, was just behind Mikkelson with the second most kills at 228. Her kills per set average was 2.26, and she had a hitting percentage of .230%. "It is absolutely amazing to receive this recognition. I want to thank my teammates and coaches for all their support and efforts in making me better" said Krantz, but above all I feel Incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to be on the court with my team and compete.

She continued about how this award meant even more after overcoming adversity. "Missing last season due to my ACL was a mental and physical battle everyday. Knowing that all the work I put into recovery and getting back to the court has paid off is an amazing feeling" she said.

Carroll Volleyball has had a member of their team make the NAIA Regional Awards for an impressive 12 straight years.
