HELENA, Mont. -- The Fighting Saints entered the fourth quarter against Corban trailing by just three points, but a 17-4 run by the Warriors to open up the fourth and a tough shooting day were too much as Carroll fell 65-56 on Thursday in Salem, Oregon.
The Warriors built a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter and used 31 points and 10 rebounds from senior guard Jordan Woodvine to keep the Saints at bay.
The Saints (3-3) were led by
Christine Denny's 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists
Carroll struggled to find its offensive rhythm, as the Saints shot just 28 percent from the field and 18 percent from the three-point line. The Saints did knock down 16 free throws, shooting 67 percent.
The Saints' defense forced 23 turnovers of the Warriors, while holding them to 38 percent shooting from the field and 27 percent shooting from deep, but the offensive woes were too much to overcome.
Dani Wagner joined Denny in double figures with 11 points.
Carroll used a nine-man rotation, while eight Saints scored against the Warriors.
It's the second consecutive loss for the Saints, who will look to snap the streak on Friday against Northwest Christian (1-0). The tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Eugene, Oregon.
