No. 22 Carroll football falls 28-26 to EOU

HELENA, Mont. -- The Fighting Saints drove 55 yards in the final few minutes.

Devan Bridgewater found Joe Farris for a 12-yard touchdown pass on a 4th and goal.

Carroll trailed 28-26 after the touchdown pass and needed a two-point conversion to tie the game.

The magic that carried the Saints to the doorstep, couldn't lift them up once again. Carroll couldn't convert the two-point conversion to tie the game.

Eastern Oregon (4-7, 3-7 Frontier) hung on for a 28-26 victory on Saturday in La Grande, Oregon.

Bridgewater rushed for a touchdown and then threw for three touchdowns to three different receivers on the day, completing 20-of-30 passes for 229 yards, but a PAT failure late in the third quarter came back to be pivotal for the Saints.

The Saints (6-4) received 157 rushing yards from Matt Burgess, who went over 1,000 yards rushing on the season.

As a team, the Saints outgained the Mountaineers 393-340 total yards.

EOU quarterback Kai Quinn threw for 290 yards and two scores, and running back Kaler Moore added two more to lead the Mountaineers.

At 6-4, the Saints posted their first winning season since 2014.
