HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College volleyball team pushed No. 18 Montana Tech to five sets, but fell by a combined four points in the final two games to lose on Wednesday, 3-2, in Butte, Montana.
Carroll (7-8, 2-3 Frontier Conference) found itself down 1-0 after the Orediggers jumped out to a 25-17 win in game one.
Then, however, the Saints won a pair of close sets, 25-22 and 25-23 to hold a 2-1 edge after three games.
Tech responded, winning Game Four 25-23 before a 15-13 in the deciding game.
The Saints as a team hit .186 to Tech's .221
Taelyr Krantz had a game-high 18 kills, while
Lexi Mikkelsen and
Hannah Dean both added 14.
Karina Mickelson led the Orediggers (16-3, 4-1 Frontier) with 17 kills.
The Saints face the Warriors of Lewis-Clark State College on Friday in Lewiston, Idaho.
