HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College golf teams will compete against Montana Tech in The Battle for the Continental Divide on Friday at Green Meadow Country Club.
"It's a fun, competitive format that has some Ryder Cup type characteristics and will be unique for our players, but a great way to close out our fall season and with a rival," Saints coach Ben MacIntyre said. "Tech has the edge on us in the men's side this fall in the conference standings and we squeaked past them on the women's side. It should be really competitive, spirited match tomorrow and I know the players are really looking forward to it.
The competition begins at 1 p.m. tomorrow and it is free for the public to watch.
The setup will be: 3 points total per match (1 point possible first six holes-1 point possible next six holes-1 point possible final six holes). Five different matches between Montana Tech and Carroll College in co-ed match play golf, with 15 total points available in the Dual Match. A team will be the winner if they achieve a total of 8 or more points. Each 6 holes will be worth a total of 1 point per set. If a match is halved during those 6 holes, each school gets ½ point. There will be three different formats in each match pitting two golfers from one school against two golfers from the other school in a match-play style format.
