HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College volleyball team jumps back into the Frontier Conference this week with a match against Montana Western in Dillon on Thursday.
It's a bit of a reset for the Saints, who dropped their last two conference matches, but then rolled off four consecutive victories in Grand Rapids, Michigan, last week.
"I think that we have grown a lot as a team in the last two weeks," Saints coach Moe Boyle said. "I think that on the court that they matured a lot with each other. I think that will only help and carry over to our play. I'm excited to get back in the Frontier Conference. Having seen everybody one time, we have to be able to perform better the second time."
Entering the match, the Saints tote the No. 2 blocking defense in the NAIA with 2.8 blocks per game.
Hannah Dean stands out in that category, averaging 1.4 blocks per game, the No. 3 mark in the NAIA.
The Saints are also led by
Lexi Mikkelsen's 205 kills (2.7 per game), Ali Williams's 645 assists (8.3 per game) and
Ayla Carpenter's 400 digs (5.1 per game).
Carroll (11-9, 2-4 Frontier) will face Montana Western (7-12, 0-5), a team looking for its first conference win under first-year coach Katie Lovett. When the two teams met earlier this season, the Saints won 3-0 in Helena.
"Our goal is to be playing our best in November and that's really what we're working toward," Boyle said. "It is just being able to let go of errors and find your passion for the game again. I think we did."
The match is scheduled for first serve at 7 p.m. in Straugh Gymnasium.
