HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College women's volleyball team wrapped up a 4-0 weekend at the Cornerstone Classic in Grand Rapids, Michigan, earning two more match victories on Saturday.
It's the first time the Saints have gone 4-0 in a tournament outside of Montana since 2016.
"It was a really good weekend," Saints coach Moe Boyle said. "I feel like we made some serious strides and have come a long way in the last few days. So many people stepped up. Our middles did a great job, touching a lot on the block."
After playing a late-night match on Friday, the Saints had a quick turnaround this morning with an 11 a.m. (eastern) first serve against Trinity.
It didn't stall the Saints, as Carroll won 3-1: 25-24, 25-16, 22-25, 28-26.
"I didn't know how we could perform but we came out guns a-blazing," Boyle said. "They played another great day of volleyball."
The Saints closed out the tournament with a 3-0 win over Grace: 25-16, 25-18, 25-18.
Boyle saw nothing but growth from her team this weekend in all phases.
"
Lexi Mikkelsen had a really good offensive weekend," Boyle said. "I think she had 54 kills on the weekend.
Hannah Dean and
Taelyr Krantz did an outstanding job of closing the block. Ali Williams just continues to grow on offense and is doing a great job dishing out sets.
The Saints jump back into conference play on Oct. 17 against Montana Western in Dillon, Montana.
