HELENA, Mont. – Tianna Sell hit a two-run walk-off home run to propel the Carroll College softball team to a 2-1 win over No. 12 Corban in the Cascade Conference finale. The Saints dropped game two, a non-conference game 3-2.
The first game was a defensive battle, Corban got on the board first with a run in the second inning.
The Saints left two on in the bottom of the fourth but didn't get anything going until the seventh.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh,
Brittany Smith earned a walk to get on base and Sell sent a ball over dead-centerfield, to score Smith and earn the 2-1 win.
Allison Williams picks up the win and moves to 13-6 on the year. She gave up five hits and one run in the game while striking out five.
Sell was 2-3 from the plate and three other Saints tallied hits in the game.
In game two, The Saints jumped out to a two-run lead after
Natalie Gaber tallied an RBI single to score one and two batters later,
Ashley Davis singled through the right side to score
Allison Bayer. The Warriors tied the game in the second with a pair of runs.
The score remained tied at 2-2 until the sixth when Corban's Kaylee Buhrkuhl homered to give the Warriors the 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish.
Brooke Brown picked up the loss. She gave up seven hits, and three runs while striking out four.
Anna ApRoberts was 3-4 from the plate and four other Carroll players earned hits.
The Saints next travel to play Oregon Tech in the first round of the Cascade Championship. The Saints enter the tournament with the six seed and face the Owls who are the No. 3 seed. The Saints took two out of three from Oregon Tech in their series.
The Championship will play at regular-season champion Southern Oregon at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 4.
