MISSOULA, Mont. - Carroll College fell to the University of Montana 3-0 in exhibition action Wednesday at Grizzly Softball Field at the South Campus Complex in Missoula.
The Saints gave up two runs in the first inning and one in the second and failed to muster a run, although both teams had chances.
The first batter of the game,
Brooke Yarnall, doubled down the left field line, but the Grizzlies sat the next three batters down in order.
In the bottom of the first, Montana racked up three hits to score the two runs.
In the second inning, with a runner on third, a bloop single down the left field line to score the third and final run of the game.
In the top of the fourth, Carroll nearly got on the board when
Allison Williams hit a hard ball which hit the top of the wall and stayed in bounds for a double.
?The Saints racked up four hits and left five on base.
Williams pitched six inning and allowed three runs, struck out two and walked one.
Yarnall, Williams,
Allison Bayer and
Tianna Sell all recorded hits.
Carroll returns to Cascade Conference play with the final road series of the year at Southern Oregon Friday and Saturday.
