Carroll Softball Plays Home Series Sunday and Monday in Missoula

HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College softball opens the home slate two weeks later than expected and not exactly at home. The Saints host the College of Idaho in a pair of doubleheaders beginning Sunday at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and continuing Monday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. All four games will be played at Grizzly Softball Stadium in the South Campus complex of the University of Montana.

"We are excited to finally get to play in the great state of Montana," head coach Aaron Jackson said. "It is a little disappointing that we aren't in Helena but are grateful to be able to play in a fantastic venue at the University of Montana. To be honest, Montana is like a second home to us since we have played many games there over our four years."

The first three games of the series are Cascade Conference games while the fourth game is considered non-conference.

The Saints enter the weekend with a 13-6 record and a 1-2 mark in Cascade play.

Carroll has seen an offensive resurgence this season with a full non-conference slate under their belts.

The pitching duo of Tess Eaton and Allison Williams are pitching at a high level. Eaton is 5-0 on the year with a 1.51 EAR and a no-hitter. Williams is 6-3 on the season with a 2.58 ERA.

Tianna Sell leads the Saints with a .400 Batting Average and a .689 slugging percentage. Allison Bayer is hitting .362 with 13 RBIs, including three home runs. Natalie Gaber and Williams also have double-digit RBIs on the season.

Carroll had a conference series against Providence postponed because of snow in Helena. The games will be replayed at a later date. They opened Cascade play with a 1-2 record after a tightly contested series with British Columbia.

This weekend's games were originally slated for Friday and Saturday, and the Saints have used the extra days for extra prep.
"This past week as a group, we have focused inward and the understanding that we play for something bigger than ourselves," Jackson said. "We are going to take care of each other and focus on playing all three facets of the game well, and the outcome will take care of itself."

C of I enters the weekend with an 11-8 record and a 2-4 mark in Cascade play. They picked up a series win against preseason conference favorite Southern Oregon 2-1, but have dropped five straight, including four to Oregon Tech entering the weekend.

"The College of Idaho is a solid team, and we expect four great games from them this weekend," Jackson said.

Jordan Maddox leads the Yotes with a .474 batting average and 15 RBIs. She had four dingers on the year and a .825 slugging percentage.  Four other C of I players have double-digit RBIs.

Colette Robert is the ace on the C of I pitching staff. She has 10 starts on the year with an 8-3 record and a 1.70 ERA.
