HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 8 Carroll College Saints are closing out the New Year against one of their oldest rivals.

No. 8 Carroll College (10-3, 2-0 Frontier) hosts the Montana Tech Orediggers (10-3,0-2) on Saturday in the PE Center.

The Saints enter the game after a strong showing at the Phoenix Frontier Classic. The Saints went 2-1 playing against some of the top teams in the NAIA, defeating University of Science and Arts 53-52, falling to No. 14 Menlo 51-46 and then ending the tournament with a victory over No. 12 Our Lady of the Lake, 76-55.

Carroll closed out the tournament in style, overcoming shooting woes in the first two games to see four Saints set or tie career highs on the court against OLLU.

The Saints started conference play out with a pair of wins: a 74-69 win over No.13 Providence and a victory over Montana State-Northern, 78-57.

Senior forward Hannah Dean leads the Saints with 15.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.4 steals per game.

The Saints bring one of the best defenses in the NAIA every night on the court. Carroll is No. 5 in the NAIA in total rebound defense (30.6) and No. 8 in scoring defense (51.8).

Tech, on the other hand, is looking to make a splash in the Frontier. The Orediggers dropped their first two conference tilts in lopsided fashion, losing to Lewis-Clark State 82-58 and falling to No. 9 Montana Western 76-45.

Five Orediggers currently average double figures, led by Mesa Willliams' 14.9 points per game.

Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The game can be heard on the radio on FM KCAP at 95.9 FM and at sports949.com. A live stream and live stats are also available.
