HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Saints volleyball team split a pair of games at the opening day of the Aquinas-Cornerstone Classic. 

The Saints (17-10) fell 3-2 to Aquinas before bouncing back to sweep Siena Heights 3-0. 

Carroll opened up against Aquinas with two straight set victories -- winning 25-23 and 25-23, but fell 19-25, 16-25 and 9-15 to drop the match. Both teams received Top 25 votes in the last coaches' poll. 

Brielle Bumgarner led the team with 14 kills and three blocks, while Ali Williams had 15 assists and Ayla Carpenter led the defense with 29 digs. 

Carroll put it all together in its second match of the day, defeating Siena Heights 28-26, 25-21 and 25-16. 

Bumgarner again led the attack, finishing with 15 kills and a block. Williams finished with 33 assists and Carpenter had 22 digs. 

The Saints are back in action on Saturday with games against the University of Northwest Ohio (19-6) and Cornerstone University (19-8).
