Saints Men's Soccer Topples Walla Walla 9-0 to Open Cascade Play

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Nicolas Kyriacos scored a pair of goals and tallied two assists to lead Carroll College to a 9-0 win over Walla Walla University to open the Cascade Conference season on the road.

The Saints got on the board first with a goal from freshman Nick Lowrimore into the top right corner of the goal in the 28th minute. 

In the 37th minute, Sam Malouf added a goal into the bottom right of the goal for to go up 2-0. That lead would hold at the half. 

The Carroll offense would become much more prolific in the second half.

Just four minutes into the second half, Malouf found Kyriacos from the left side who sent into the middle of the net to put the Saints up 3-0 in the 49th minute. Just four minutes later, Henry Smaldon found Isaac Bostrom in the box for his first goal of the match. 

Kyriacos added his second goal on an assist from Riley Prescott in the 61st minute for the 5-0 lead.

In the 68th minute, Jonathan Taylor intercepted an attempt to clear from Wolves and sent it in for his second goal of the season. Just four minutes later, Taylor added an assist when he sent a ball behind the defense where Jose Porras was waiting. He chipped the keeper for the goal and the 7-0 lead.

The Saints scored twice in the final three minutes. In the 88th, Leo Georgiades scored on a header on an assist from Eric Hollenbaugh, and in the 90th, Bostrom scored on a shot from distance with an assist from Kyriacos.

The Saints outshot Walla Walla 45-12, including 17 shots on goal to just five for the Wolves.

Bernhardt Di Cino faced 12 shots and made five saves to notch his first shutout of the season. 

The Carroll offense has now scored 25 goals in the last three games. 

The Saints travel to Portland, Oregon, Saturday to play the second match of the week against Multnomah. The Lions dropped their conference opener to Providence 7-0 Friday.
