HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College softball team is on their longest conference trip of the year Sunday and Monday when they face No. 25 Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, Ore., in a pair of doubleheaders.
The two teams were originally slated to play Friday and Saturday, but inclement weather delayed the start until Sunday.
The Saints are coming off of a split series against Eastern Oregon and are currently 10-9 overall and 7-5 in Cascade play. The Owls are coming off of a four-game sweep of Northwest Christian and are 21-7 overall and sit second in conference at 11-4.
Freshman
Anna ApRoberts leads the Saints with 17 hits and nine RBIs.
Ashley Davis has a team-high 10 RBIs, and
Hannah Alcorn has a team-high batting average of .400.
The Carroll pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.43.
Allison Williams and
Tess Eaton are both 4-1 on the year. Williams has an ERA of 1.75 and Eaton is hot on her heels with a 1.87 ERA.
OIT has played 10 more games than the Saints this year. Tara Moates leads the Owls with a .436 average with more than a 100 at-bats already this year. She has knocked in 26 RBIs, second only to Sadie Birch's 27.
Kelly Scott has a 2.83 ERA with a 9-3 record. Ali Graham had a 2.87 ERA with a 6-0 mark.
"This weekend will go a long way in determining the race for the conference championship," head coach
Aaron Jackson said. "OIT is a top-25 team and power in the Cascade Conference, and we look forward to the challenge. I think this team is finding its stride and we are excited to get on the field and compete against a great team."
