HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College Softball and No. 18 Southern Oregon split the final doubleheader of a four-game series Saturday at Centennial Park in Helena. The Raiders earned a 6-0 win in the first game before the Saints took the second game 4-3.

In game one, the Saints offense struggled as Victoria Mackey of the Raiders tossed a complete game shutout while only allowing three hits. Kayleen Smith led the offensive charge for the Raiders with three RBIs and two runs scored on two hits.

In game two, the Saints' bats came alive when
Kaydee Parsons opened the scoring with an RBI double in the bottom of the second. Parsons scored in the next at-bat when
Megan Gipe hit an RBI groundout after Parson advanced to third on a passed ball.

The Saints built a 3-0 lead on a third-inning RBI single from
Anna ApRoberts, but SOU countered and got on the board with a home run to right field by Taylor Martinez. Â

After the Raiders cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the fifth,
Brittany Hogan hit a towering homerun to left field in the bottom of the inning to give the Saints their fourth run. Â SOU added another run in the sixth but couldn't find enough offense to tie the game and the Saints held on.

Brooke Brown went the distance in game two, allowing three runs on 11 hits to lead the Saints to victory.

Seniors
Courtney Cloud and
Megan Gipe contributed to the win in their final game at Centennial Park. Cloud was 3-3 and while Gipe had an RBI.

The Saints now sit at 13-18 on the season while Southern Oregon sits at 35-10.

Carroll will wrap up their regular season next weekend with a road series at Corban University Friday and Saturday and a neutral site series against the University of British Columbia Sunday.
