HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College softball team faces off against Northwest University in doubleheaders Friday and Saturday in Kirkland, Washington.
The Saints are 7-8 in Cascade Conference play and 11-12 overall. Northwest is 9-22 overall and 4-14 in conference.
Freshman
Anna ApRoberts leads the Saints with a .375 batting average, 21 hits and 12 RBIs
Ashley Davis is second on the team with 10 RBIs.
Allison Williams and
Tess Eaton lead the Carroll pitching staff, each with a 4-2 record on the year. Williams has a 2.40 ERA while Eaton has a 2.68.
The Saints are coming off of a 1-3 weekend against No. 25 Oregon Tech, but it was the most explosive offensive series of the year, and the Saints hope to continue the offensive trend in Kirkland.
"This weekend's series is about taking care of business," head coach
Aaron Jackson said. "We look to continue our offensive success and combine that with great pitching and defense. We showed a lot of heart in the last game at OIT and showed that when we out all three facets together we are tough to beat. We continued to build for the month of May, and I believe we are on the right track."
Northwest is coming off of three-straight losses to Eastern Oregon. The Eagles have given up 174 runs this year while only scoring 87. Courtney Heard has a team0high .292 batting average, and Rachel Hawley leads the team with a3.56 ERA and a 7-11 record.
