BUTTE, Mont. – Cassidy Hashley scored her 1000th career point but it was not enough as the Montana Tech women rode a big second half to earn a win over No. 25 Carroll College at the Hyper Athletic Complex in Butte.
The Saints led by 18-9 with 1:59 to play in the first quarter but Montana Tech scored seven-straight points to cut the lead to 18-16 at the first quarter break.
The Diggers took a 33-31 lead into halftime. The two teams battled for the first six minutes of the second half but the Diggers went on a 12-3 run to take a 50-41 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Saints couldn't find traction in the final frame and the Montana Tech earned the 11-point win.
Carroll falls to 12-5 on the year and 2-3 in Frontier Conference play. Montana Tech is now 9-8 on the year and 3-3 in conference.
Hashley scored a team-high 18 points and
Bailey Pasta added 15. Carroll was 22-59 (37.3 percent) from the field. They had 16 turnovers on 11 Montana Tech steals.
The Diggers were 23-53 (43.3 percent) from the field. Marth Dembek scored 20 points to lead the way and Kourtney Coverdell added 10. Montana Tech outrebounded the Saints 39-36.
The Saints next travel to Lewiston Idaho to face No. 2 Lewis-Clark State Saturday at 6:30 p.m. MST. The Warriors are 17-0 on the year. The game will be broadcast on 104.5 Mo Legends and on ESPNMontana.com, a live stream will be available via lcwarriors.com and live stats are available via Dakstats.
