LEWISTON, Idaho – The 25th-ranked Carroll women's basketball team fell on the road to No. 2 Lewis-Clark State 57-42 at the Activity Center in Lewiston Saturday.
The Warriors outscored the Saints 29-20 in the first half but the Saints rallied to cut the lead to 31-28 with 7:18 left in the third quarter. The Warriors extended the lead back to 39-33 heading into the fourth but the Saints appeared to be hanging with the second-ranked team in the country.
LCSC began the fourth quarter with a 13-2 run to take control of the game and never looked back and earned the 15-point win.
Cassidy Hashley scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. No other Saints scored more than five points. Carroll was 18-56 (32.1 percent) from the field.
The Saints held LCSC to their lowest point total of the season by 10 points. Warriors were 25-53 (47.2 percent) from the field but 0-6 from the three-point line.
Brittany Tackett led the Warriors with 20 points and Hailey Tuner and Jossilyn Blackman scored 12 point each. Lewis-Clark's All-Conference guard Caelyn Orlandi was held to just four points, tied for her season low.
The Saints fall to 12-6 on the year and 2-4 in Frontier Conference play. Lewis-Clark is now 19-0 and 7-0 in conference. Carroll continues the road swing next Thursday against Montana Western in Dillon.
