Carroll Men's Soccer Falls to No. 20 Corban 2-0

SALEM, Ore. – The Carroll College men's soccer team kept pace with the undefeated and No. 20 Corban men's soccer team for one half of play, but two second-half goals from the Warriors earned the 2-0 shutout win over the Saints Saturday in Salem.

The first half was a defensive struggle with the Saints outshooting the Warriors 7-5 but it was 45 minutes of scoreless soccer.

The second half began much the same way until the 63rd minute when Corban's Armando Guevara emerged from a scramble and knocked the ball past Carroll goalkeeper Bernhardt Di Cino to give CU a 1-0 lead.

Corban continued the pressure and in the 80th minute Rolando Valazquez tallied the second goal for the Warriors.

Carroll notched four shots in the final 10 minutes of the match but couldn't find the back of the net and Corban earned the 2-0 win.

The Saints fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in Cascade Conference play. Carroll returns to action next Thursday at Nelson Stadium when they host Eastern Oregon at 2 p.m.
