Saints Meet Warriors for Frontier Title

HELENA, Mont. – The last time Carroll College and Lewis-Clark State met in a Frontier Conference tournament game, Gary Lynch lit up the scoreboard at the Butte Civic Center for 27 points to lead Carroll to an 86-69 win over the Warriors in the Frontier semifinals.  The year was 2003.

In the 13 years between that game and Monday night's Frontier title game in Lewiston, Idaho, the two teams never faced each other in the conference tournament. That changes when the 20th ranked Saints meet the sixth-ranked Warriors at the Activity Center.

The two teams met three times during the regular season, Carroll handed the Warriors their first loss of the season in a 96-70 thrashing but Lewis-Clark returned the favor and earned wins of 82-69 and 76-59 in the last two meetings.

The Warriors have the fourth-best record in all of NAIA Division I and have fallen just four times this season, and  just once at home, against Montana Western on Feb. 18. LCSC is 16-1 at home and the Saints haven't knocked off the Warriors in Lewiston since the 2010-11 season.

Carroll is on a three-game win streak, including back-to-back wins over Rocky Mountain, the last an 84-81 win over the Bears Saturday, in the Frontier Semifinals to advance meet the Warriors.

Lewis-Clark overcame mistakes to topple upstart University of Great Falls 76-68 in its semifinal match up.

LCSC is led by Montana Transfer Jake Wiley with 15.14 points and 7.07 rebounds a game.  Rich Tesmer has a team-high 4.32 assists per game.

The Saints broke a lot of negative streaks in the 2015-16 season and look break the losing streak in Lewiston.

Zach Taylor leads Carroll with 17.59 assists and 4.52 assists per game. He is coming off of a career-high night with 35 points and seven rebounds in the semifinal win.

Ryan Imhoff has a team-high 6.14 rebounds per game.

The Saints and Warriors tip off at 8 p.m. MST.
