HELENA, Mont. – Carroll softball travels Caldwell, Idaho, to face College of Idaho on March 11 and Eastern Oregon on March 12 for their first-ever action in the Cascade Conference. The Saints were originally scheduled to face EOU on their home field but the game was moved because of bad weather in La Grande.
College of Idaho is 3-4-1 on the season after wins over Menlo and losses against Concordia (Calif.) and (Ore.). The Yotes offense is led by Destiny Turner who currently is hitting .391 with a team leading three home runs and 13 RBIs. Cortni Pena leads the pitchers with a record of 1-2 with a 3.82 ERA in 22 innings of work.
Eastern Oregon is currently 5-11 on the season with wins over Nortwest Nazarene and Northwest Christian. Cheyenne Barker and Marisa Gonzalez are at the center of the offense with Barker hitting .319 with three home runs and 15 RBIs. Gonzalez is at a .292 average with a team leading five home runs and 17 RBIs. The pitching staff is led by Hailey Kline who has a 2-4 record with a 3.50 ERA in 40 innings tossed.
The Saints currently sit at 9-7 on the season after traveling to Washington for the CCC Crossover tournament. Carroll swept Northwest Christian and spilt their two games against 17th-ranked Corban University. After the tournament, Carroll dropped two against NCAA DII to opponent Concordia (Ore.) who finished last season third in the NAIA Word Series.
Paige Blake leads the team in batting average with .432 and has five RBIs and stolen bases. Freshman
Tianna Harper has been an impact bat in the lineup with a .361 average and two home runs and team leading 10 RBIs.
Ashley Davis leads the pitching staff with a 1.75 ERA and a 2-1 record over 16 innings of work with one save. MacKenna Landis is 4-0 on the season with a 3.37 ERA in 27 innings and second on the team with 18 strike outs.
Game times for both days have changed. Carroll will now play at 3 p.m. on Friday against College of Idaho and on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Eastern Oregon. Live stats for the games can be found
