Springfield, Ore. – The top-seed Carroll College women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw against Eighth-seeded College of Idaho but topped C of I 4-2 in penalty kicks to advance to the semifinals of the Cascade Conference tournament in Springfield.
 
Carroll outshot 21-14, including a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal but neither team could find the back of the nest through 110 minutes of soccer.
 
The game went to a shootout where the Saints made four of their five shots and the Yotes hit only two of four, it was out of reach after Talya Vaira hit her shot and the Saints advanced.
 
Carroll takes on former Frontier Conference cohort Rocky Mountain in the semifinals. Carroll beat Rocky 4-0 in Billings but the Bears are playing great soccer right now with wins over SOU and Corban in their last two matches.
 
The Saints and Battlin' Bears take the field in Springfield at 6 p.m. MDT. Southern Oregon and Northwest meet in the other semifinal.
