HELENA, Mont.- The Carroll College men's soccer team travels to meet the University of Great Falls Saturday at Argo Field in Great Falls.
Â
The Saints (5-6, 3-3 Cascade) meet the red hot Argos (5-4, 4-2 Cascade) who have won four straight, including a 4-0 win over Rocky Mountain last week.
Â
UGF has a balanced scoring team with 11 players notching goals on the season, including seven with multiple goals. Marc Girones has allowed just seven goals in eight games between the posts.
Â
"They're a good international team with a few locals mixed in," head coach
Doug Mello said. "They play a hard-nosed style and they possess the ball and play aggressively. We always play a good game against them and we are hoping to do that again. We haven't been very consistent. We are hoping that this is the catalyst to the last third of season and a strong finish."
Â
Carroll is still dealing with injuries but for the first time this season,
Alessio Georgiades, 2015's assist leader will be on the field for the Saints.
Â
"We are a bit nicked up. We had seven players on the sideline this week during practice," Mello said. "We are really looking forward to a time that we have all of our players in position and healthy. It is huge to have Alessio back. He is still getting his feet under him but he distributes the ball well. He takes the corner kicks and he is a big part of what we do offensively."
Â
Carroll is led by
Isaac Bostrom who has five goals on the season. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Bernhardt Di Cino has allowed just two goals in the last three matches for the Saints, leading a defensive unit that has been the anchor of the Carroll team.
Â
"Our defense has been good. We are struggling getting the ball into the net after good set ups. We need to finish and we have been working on that this week and hopefully that translates to the game."
Â
The game begins at 3:30 p.m. live stats are available the UGF Athletics website.
