HELENA, Mont. – Four players scored in double figures and the Saints led wire-to-wire to earn a 76-40 win over the University of Lethbridge Friday in the Carroll women's basketball season opener at the PE Center.
Cassidy Hashley notched a game-high 16 points and nine rebounds in just 23 minutes on the court, Hannah dean had 11 points and seven rebounds, Brittney Johnson was 4-of-7 from the 3-point line for 12 point and redshirt freshman Oona Harrington scored 12 points in her Carroll debut.
The Saints were 31-68 (45.6 percent) from the field, including 14-28 (50 percent) in the second half, while holding the Pronghorns to 14-44 (.318 percent) from the field, including 0-13 from 3-point range.
Carroll also outrebounded Lethbridge 37-29 and notched 20 assists on 31 made shots, 10 players tallied assists in the game for the Saints.
Carroll began the game with a 7-0 run and the pronghorns didn't get on the board until a three-point play by Teesha Olson with 5:24 left in the first quarter. The Saints would close out the quarter on a 20-10 run to take a 27-13 lead at the quarter.
The second quarter was much of the same with Carroll extending their lead to 44-21 on a bucket from Dean at the buzzer.
The third quarter was much tighter with each team scoring 14 but the Saints outscore Lethbridge 18-5 in the final frame to earn the 36-point win.
Carroll next plays host to Central Baptist on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at the PE Center.
