OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Carroll College men's soccer team battled through weather and tough competition but came up short Friday, losing to Evergreen State 1-0 at Geoduck Pitch.
 
The Geoducks outshot the Saints 13-8 and 5-4 in shots on goal. The Saints notched six shots in the first half to Evergreen's three. The Geoducks turned the advantage their way very early in the second half, scoring from 40-yards out on a 40-yard free kick.
 
Neither team could add to the scoreboard. The offensive attacks of both teams were likely impacted heavily by the weather. A remnant of a typhoon pounded Western Washington and Oregon. The deluge turned the pitch into a frustrating mess.
 
The Neither team scored the rest of the way and Evergreen would hold on for the win.
 
The Geoducks sit in second in the conference at 5-0-3 in Cascade play and the Saints are in eighth at 4-4 in league play.
 
The Saints play fifth-place Northwest tomorrow in Kirkland, Washington at 3 p.m. the weather will again be difficult with heavy winds and rain forecasted.
