BILLINGS, Mont. – The Carroll College men's soccer team ends a two-week break with matches Friday and Sunday at the MSUB Rimrock Classic in Billings. The Saints take on MSU Billings Friday and the University of Mary Sunday.
 
Carroll is 2-1 with the last win coming on Aug. 26. The two-week break came at an inopportune time for the Saints after a 4-1 drubbing of the University of Lethbridge. Head coach Doug Mello didn't let his team rest on their early season accomplishments.
 
"We were in a situation in where we were playing well and it just so happened that we had the two-week break," Mello said. "Usually when you are playing well it isn't something that you want with your momentum part of the equation. We did take the opportunity to work on a lot of different aspects of our game so I think we will see some improvement. I'm hoping we can jump right in with both feet and get right back to where we were."
 
The Saints look to prepare for the tough Cascade conference schedule with quality non-conference opponents.
 
"They are both D-II schools, they are both very good," Mello said. "We were looking to get in some games against tough competition and these are going to really test us as we get ready for the Cascade Conference."
 
MSU Billings brings a 0-1-1 record into the weekend. David Loeung and Niklas Schregel lead the Yellowjackets with a goal apiece.
 
The University of Mary is 0-2 James Liddiard and Aaron Brennen have each scored a single goal in the first two games in the season.
 
The Saints are led by Jose Porras who has scored four goals in three games, including a hat trick in the game in the game against Lethbridge. Jake Gilbertson and Chris Brayton have a goal apiece.
 
Carroll goal keeper Conor Smith has a 1.0 goal against average in three games.
 
The Saints take on MSUB at 4:30 p.m. Friday before playing Mary Sunday at 1 p.m. Live Streams and Stats are available via MSUBSports.com
