Saints Softball Closes Out Inaugural Season at UGF

HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College softball team closes out the first season in its history Saturday and Sunday with two doubleheaders on the road against the University of Great Falls at the Great Falls Multi-sports Complex.

"Going into the final weekend of the season we look to finish strong in our inaugural season," head coach Aaron Jackson said. "It has been quit the ride in season number one as we have had great experiences that have set the foundation of our program."

The foundation is laid with 12 wins, including one over 15th-ranked Concordia (Ore.) and a five-game winning streak late in the season.

The four games over the weekend are final of 12 that the Saints and Argos play this season. UGF leads the series 6-2.

Nine of the 12 games count as the conference schedule but the Argos have locked up the five games needed to advance to the Cascade Conference Tournament.

The Saints might be mathematically out of the running for a trip to the tournament but that doesn't mean they aren't going to compete.

"This weekend we expect another four game battle," Jackson said. "We look to continue our offensive production and clean up our defense, which was the difference in the first series with UGF."

The Saints and Argos are scheduled to play at 1 p.m. with the second game played immediately afterward.
