Box Score 2 WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Carroll College softball team finished a four-game sweep of the Walla Walla University Wolves in impressive fashion Monday with a 16-0 pounding in game one and a 7-1 victory in game two. The Saints outscored Walla Walla 49-5 in the four games.
Allison Bayer closed out the week with two RBIs in each game. She ended the series with 14 RBIs in the four games.
Megan Gipe pitched her second-straight shutout. She allowed just two-hits in five inning complete game.
The Saints didn't score in the first inning or the fifth inning but racked up three in the second, five in the third and eight in the fourth to earn the 16-0 victory.
Nine different Carroll players tallied RBIs, including five with multiple RBIs.
Brittany Hogan led the way with three.
Taylor Ostwald was 4-for-4 wand
Maddie Jones was 3-for-3. She also scored each time she got on base.
In game two, the Saint scored two in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead before the Wolves cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
The Saints scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth to earn the 7-1 win.
Haley Adams was 3-for-4 and
Allison Bayer was 3-for-5.
MacKenna Landis was 1-for-3 from the plate but earned two RBIs to give herself run support. She allowed seven hits and struck out two to earn the win on the mound.
The Saint winning streak is now five games.
Carroll plays the University of Montana Thursday in a doubleheader at the new Grizzly Softball complex in Missoula. Both the Saints and the Griz are first year programs that have shown vast improvement over the season.
The first game begins at 2 p.m., with the second game following immediately afterward.
