WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Carroll College softball team hits the road for the final road trip outside of Montana this season when the Saints take on Walla Walla University Sunday and Monday in doubleheaders at the Hebbel-Janke softball complex.
The first-year Saints program brings an 8-22 record into the games against the Wolves, who played Eastern Oregon in their lone NAIA matchups. WWU was swept in four games by a combined score of 56-2.
Carroll played the University of Great Falls in eight consecutive games and Saints coach
Aaron Jackson is excited to see some new faces.
"It will be good to be back on the field facing another team that is not UGF," Jackson said. "The last two series were a great challenge for our team and we learned a lot about ourselves and the grind of college softball."
The Wolves are 2-7 on the season with the two wins coming against junior college teams. Jackson won't let the poor record of the Wolves affect the way Saints play this weekend. He is much more concerned about the way his team played a weekend ago.
"This weekend against Walla Walla is pretty big for us," Jackson said. "We need to continue what we are doing offensively and clean up our defense and we will have a good weekend.'
The Saints and Wolves are scheduled to begin the first doubleheader at 2 p.m. Sunday.
