HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College men's basketball hosts No. 11 Montana-Western Thursday and Westminster Saturday. Each game is the second meeting of the teams this season.
The Saints (14-7, 3-4 FC) fell to Western in Dillon 77-66 on Jan. 10, but won against Westminster 67-65 two days earlier on a buzzer-beater by
Zach Taylor.
The Bulldogs (17-5, 5-2 FC) are tied with University of Great Falls for the best record in the Frontier but have yet to win a road conference game this season.
Dexter Williams Jr. is the Bulldogs leading scorer with 14.48 points per game, good enough for fifth in the conference.
Carroll's
Zach Taylor leads the conference with 19.19 points per game and is the reigning Frontier Conference Player of the Week.
The Saints are coming off a 72-70 road win over Rocky Mountain Saturday but look forward to two hard-fought contests this week.
"We are excited for two big, tough games this week at the PE Center, first, Montana-Western, number one in the league, and then Westminster, the team that was picked to win the conference at the start of the season," head coach
Carson Cunningham said." We expect a mighty challenge. We are going to have to play really tough basketball, be smart and try to find a way to get some wins this weekend."
Westminster (10-10, 3-4 FC) has won two-straight games after started 1-4 in Frontier play. Quincy Bair leads the Griffins with 13.2 points per game, one of three players that average double-figures.
The Saints played five of their first seven Frontier games on the road and look forward to return to the PE Center with support of the home crowd.
"It would be awesome to hear a thunderous roar from the Carroll faithful, led by the Carroll Crazies," Cunningham said. "The impact that a raucous crowd makes on a game is immeasurable we are playing some tough teams and can use the help of the 'sixth man.'"
The saints tip off againts the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m Thursday and against the Griffins 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
