HELENA, Mont. – The newly minted sixth-ranked Carroll College women's basketball team is looking to do something they haven't needed to do yet this season, the 11-1 Saints will look to rebound from a loss.
After starting 11-0 the Saints fell 64-54 to then 19th-ranked Lewis Clark Friday evening at the PE Center. Carroll outrebounded the Warriors 39-22, including 20 offensive rebounds but the Saints struggled shooting the ball, hitting just 14 of 56 (28.6 percent) from the field.
The Saints take the court Wednesday against the slumping Montana Western Bulldogs who bring in a 9-3 record, and a three-game losing streak into the game.
The Bulldogs opened the season with nine-straight wins but the first four came against Canadian teams. The other five came against NAIA DII teams, all of which have losing records.
The Bulldogs fell to Eastern Oregon 68-50 in their final game before the start of the Frontier Conference slate then lost to the University of Great Falls and MSU-Northern to start conference slate.
University of Montana transfer Molly Klinker leads the way for the Bulldogs, she averages 14.17 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
Two other Western players, Sierra Higheagle and Aniese Palmore, average double figures in points.
Only one Carroll player,
Cassidy Hashley averages double-figures for the Saints. While the Saints are ranked 58th in the country in points per game, they are No. 10 in the country for scoring defense and fifth in the country for rebounding margin.
The game is final of a stretch of three Frontier Conference games in early December. The Saints play two exhibition games before resuming Frontier play Jan. 8, on the road at MSU-Northern.
Wednesday's Game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
