HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College men's basketball team looks to build on an 83-75 win over Dickinson State when the 4-1 Saints open Frontier Conference play Thursday against Montana Tech before hosting Lewis-Clark State Friday in the first home games since Nov. 4.
The Diggers began the season with fiver-straight victories before falling in four their last four consecutive contests, en route to a 5-4 record on the season.
Jalen Coates leads the Diggers with 21.56 points per game and ranks in the top-50 in 11 different statistical categories.
The Saints are currently tied for the top field goal percentage in the country led by
Oliver Carr who is ranked 17th in the country, shooting 59.4 percent.
The team the Saints are tied with is Friday's opponent Lewis-Clark. The Warriors are currently 9-0 and have only been challenged twice, topping Corban 82-72 and just sneaking by the College of Idaho 88-86. They have missed the century mark just three times in nine games, including a 139-58 pasting of Norwest Indian College.
Former University of Montana Forward Jake Wiley now leads LC with 17.11 points per game and 6.89 rebounds. Wiley is hitting on over 70 percent of his shots and has the best field goal percentage in the country.
Zach Taylor averages 20 PPG for the Saints, good enough for 16th in the country.
The games are slated to take place at 7:30 p.m. on both nights. Thursday fans are encouraged to wear white.
