Saints Topple Multnomah 4-0 to Close Out Regular Season

PORTLAND –  Alessio Georgiades tallied his first collegiate hat trick as Carroll College men's soccer overpowered Multnomah 4-0 to close out the regular season and move into the fifth seed in the Cascade Conference Tournament.

The game was delayed and moved because heavy rain in the Portland area.

The rain didn't dampen the Carroll attack. James Lamont scored his third goal in two games to get the scoring going in the 11th minute.

Georgiades got his first goal in the 41st minute to push the Carroll advantage to 2-0 at the break.

The Saints outshot Multnomah 17-1 in the half. The second half would follow much of the same script.

In the 80th minute Georgiadas scored on a free kick from 20-yards out into the upper corner to put Carroll up 3-0.

The final goal came on a penalty kick in the 83 minute to give Georgiades the hat trick and the Saints the 4-0 win.

Carroll had a 16-1 shot advantage in the second half for the sixth shutout of the season for Conor Smith.

The Saints closed out the season with five wins and a tie in the last six matches to move into the fifth seed in the upcoming Cascade Conference Tournament.

Carroll opens the tournament against Evergreen. The Saints topped the Geoducks 2-0 at Nelson Stadium in the lone meeting of the two teams this season.

Carroll and Evergreen play at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in Springfield, Ore., at the Willamalane Soccer Center.
