Carroll Men Draw 1-1 with Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –  Carroll College men's soccer battled Oregon Tech to a 1-1 draw Saturday evening at Trevor Derrah Field in Klamath Falls.

The Owls got on the board in just the 13th minute with a goal by Benito Torres-Mata but the Saints would answer just over two minutes later.

Isaac Bostrom buried a header assisted by Alessio Georgiades to equalize in the 15th minute. The assist was Georgiades' seventh of the season.

The rest of the game was a defensive stalemate. The Saints outshot the Owls 22-17 including 7-1 in the overtime periods but despite opportunities weren't able to finish and earn the win.

"It was a hard fought, physical match," head coach Doug Mello said. "We had a few injuries, so we played with a lot of reserves and we had some missed opportunities, especially in overtime, so I am not surprised with the result. We aren't happy with the result but we are satisfied. It is always good to get points on the road."

The Saints are 6-3-2 in conference play and are currently seventh in the Cascade and close out the season with a road trip against Walla Walla and Multnomah, the two last place teams in the conference with a combined 1-21 conference record.

"We have clinched a spot in the conference tournament but next week we can hopefully get a couple more wins and move up into the top four or five in the standings," Mello said.

The Saints return home Sunday before traveling to take on Walla Walla Friday and Multnomah Saturday to close out the regular season.
