No. 4 Carroll dominates No. 15 EOU

LaGRANDE, Ore. – Dustin Rinker scored four touchdowns, Mac Roche threw for 294 yards and four touchdowns and the Carroll defense held Eastern Oregon to just 142 yards of offense en route to a dominant 55-7 victory for the No. 4 Carroll College Saints over No. 15 Eastern Oregon in the NAIA Game of the week.

The Saints started the dominance on defense. Eastern Oregon went three and out on seven of their 11 drives. Only one drive went more than 11 yards and 66 of the Mountaineers' 142 yards came on one play, a 66-yard touchdown run by Eastern Oregon quarterback Zach Bartlow. Eastern Oregon tallied just two first downs in the entire game.

The Carroll offense was as dominant as the defense. The Saints scored touchdowns on eight of their 12 drives and didn't punt until there was 9:30 left in the fourth quarter.  They racked up 520 yards of offense and the Saints won time of possession 42:24 to 17:36.

Anthony Clarke led all receivers with nine catches for 138 yards and a touchdown. Rinker inched closer to the Carroll career rushing record with 95 yards and four touchdowns. He now has 4255 yards, 219 yards short of Chance Demarais' record.

Jordan Pine scored his first touchdown of the season on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter. Dylan Green capped off the scoring with his first career touchdown, an 11-yard run to the pylon with 7:39 to play in the game.

No. 4 Carroll hosts No. 5 Southern Oregon on Saturday Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at Nelson Stadium. Both teams will likely move up in the polls because third ranked Georgetown College (Ky.) fell to Cambellsville 28-24.

Carroll is now 4-1 on the season and Eastern Oregon falls to 4-2.

Southern Oregon defeated Montana-Western 31-6 to move to 6-0 on the Season.

The Raiders defeated Carroll 38-35 in Ashland, Ore.  in the Saints' first game of the season.
