HAVRE, Mont. – The Carroll College Fighting Saints scored 34-straight points to close out a 55-13 road victory over MSU-Northern Saturday afternoon for their seventh straight win.
The Saints opened the game with a one-yard touchdown run From Dustin Rinker and a 58-yard touchdown pass from Mac Roche to Anthony Clarke for a quick 14-0 lead.
The Lights answered with a 23-yard touchdown grab by Jake Messerly, the PAT was blocked but the Carroll lead was cut to 14-6.
An interception by Eric Dawson set up another Rinker one-yard run to put Carroll on top 21-6.
The Lights again answered, this time on a 14-yard run by Zach McKinley to cut the lead to 21-13.
The Saints then stepped on the gas pedal. Roche scored with on a bootleg with 18 seconds remaining in the half to put the Saints up 28-13. Carroll got the ball first in the second half and scored on 14-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Clarke to take a 35-13 lead.
Matt Weist hit a field goal with 9:38 left in the third quarter to give the Saints a 38-13 lead and the Mac Roche tallied his second long touchdown pass of the game on a 56-yard pass to Kyle Griffith on the next drive to put the Saints up 45-13.
The Saints scored their final touchdown on another Roche bootleg with 20 seconds left in the third to take a 53-13 lead.
Carroll scored the final points of the game on a 30-yard field goal in the waning minutes.
Roche finished the game with 280 yards on 17-24 for three touchowns and one interception.
Rinker ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Jordan Pine ran for 89 yards on 12 carries. Mac Roche ran for 33 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.
Anthony Clarke had seven receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
The Carroll defense held the Lights to 262 yards including just one first down in the second half.
The game was the final regular-season road contest for the Saints who close out the season with home games against Rocky Mountain on Nov. 8 at 12 p.m. and the College of Idaho on Nov. 15.
