HIGH SCHOOL 
McDermott was a member of the 2014 and 2015 4A State Championship teams and is a four-year letter winner in basketball and was recruited by NCAA Division I teams the University of Portland, Seattle University and Columbia University, as well as NCAA DII schools Minot State and California Baptist. She was also pursued by a handful of NCAA DIII and NAIA schools, but chose to take her talents to the hilltop and join former teammate Oona Harrington. On her high school team, where she played with, Laura Stockton (Gonzaga), Oti Gildon (Oregon), Tayler Drynan (Simon Fraser University) and Harrington, she averaged nine points and five rebounds per game. McDermott was a standout for her high school team as well as on the club circuit where she led her Spokane Sandpipers, averaging 16 points and nine rebounds in the summer between her junior and senior years against some of the best competition in the nation.
