Julian Vladimirov, a 6-0 point guard from Sofia, Bulgaria came to Carroll from the Club BUBA Basketball in the Bulgarian U19 League. He has also been selected for the Bulgarian National Team. He competed in the U16 EURO Championship and twice in the EURO U19 Championship. In the club national championships of Bulgaria, he was twice named to the All-Tournament First-Team.
 
On top of his athletic achievements, Vladimirov has a strong academic background. He scored highly on his application tests and speaks three languages, Bulgarian, English and Spanish.
 
"We're excited to welcome Julian Vladimirov to Carroll College. He's a fantastic student, a skilled linguist, and, happily, he can play some basketball," Coach Cunningham said. "He's crafty and tough, a lot like Bulgaria itself. He comes from a part of the world, after all, that is assumed to be the first place in human history to utilize symbolic markings, a precursor to writing, and Bulgaria is credited with inventing the smelting of gold. I'm looking forward to watching Julian develop as an international student-athlete at Carroll College."
