High School: Derek received Second-Team All 5A District 5-6 honors in 2014 for Hillcrest High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho… named to the Idaho District 5 & 6 All-Star Football Game… competed in sprints for the Hillcrest HS track and field team.

Personal: Parents are RJ and Kori Smith of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Derek is majoring in Biology.
