HIGH SCHOOL
Sassano didn't play football his junior year, often the most important season for college coaches to evaluate talent. His senior year he returned to the field and put up an impressive showing. He tallied 82 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. He also had a pair of fumble recoveries and two interceptions. He earned first-team all-state honors at safety and was selected to the East-West Shrine Game. Off of the football field, he was a member of the Bighorns high school hockey team and led the team to a state championship in 2015 and a runner-up finish in 2016. He is also a key member of the Helena Senators Legion baseball team. He was named the team MVP, Rookie of the Year and Batting Champions for the 2016 season.
